1 यूहुन्‍ना 4:16 में बाईबिल हमें बताती है कि परमेश्‍वर प्रेम है। यह न केवल परमेश्‍वर के बारे में ही प्रकाशन नही बल्कि इस बात का भी प्रकाशन है कि प्रेम क्‍या है। इसका अर्थ यह है कि प्रेम पवित्र एवं परमेश्‍वर का स्‍वभाव है| इसीलिए शैतान भी प्रेम को ही अपने आक्रमण का निशाना बनाता है।

जब बाईबिल बताती है कि परमेश्‍वर प्रेम है तो इसका मतलब यह है कि प्रेम वैसे ही अनंत है जैसे परमेश्‍वर अनंत है। यह भी कि परमेश्‍वर सभी नैतिक प्राणियों का सच्‍चा और वैधिक न्‍यायाधीश है क्‍योंकि प्रेम सम्‍पूर्ण नैतिकता का मूल आधार है और नैतिक प्राणी परमेश्‍वर के स्‍वरूप में बनाए गये है। उन में प्रेम की विहीनता ईश्‍वरविहीनता के अनुरूप ही है। और वे ईश्‍वर के स्‍वरूप तब ही है जब उनमें उस दैवीय प्रेम का जीवन होगा।

जो प्रेम में बना रहता है, वह परमेश्वर में बना रहता है; और परमेश्वर उस में बना रहता है। (1यूह 4:16)

बाईबिल हमें परमेश्‍वर के प्रेम का चित्रण देती है:

उसका प्रेम हमारे प्रति सनातन पिता का प्रेम है

देखो पिता ने हम से कैसा प्रेम किया है, कि हम परमेश्वर की सन्तान कहलाएं, और हम हैं भी: इस कारण संसार हमें नहीं जानता, क्योंकि उस ने उसे भी नहीं जाना। – 1यूह 3:1

उसका प्रेम हमारे प्रति सच्‍चे मित्र का प्रेम है

यीशु ने कहा:

इस से बड़ा प्रेम किसी का नहीं, कि कोई अपने मित्रों के लिये अपना प्राण दे।
जो कुछ मैं तुम्हें आज्ञा देता हूं, यदि उसे करो, तो तुम मेरे मित्रा हो।
अब से मैं तुम्हें दास न कहूंगा, क्योंकि दास नहीं जानता, कि उसका स्वामी क्या करता है: परन्तु मैं ने तुम्हें मित्रा कहा है, क्योंकि मैं ने जो बातें अपने पिता से सुनीं, वे सब तुम्हें बता दीं। – यूह 15:13-15

उसका प्रेम हमारे प्रति एक प्रेमि बडे भाई का प्रेम है

इब्रानियों 2:11 बताता है कि यीशु हमें भाई कहने से नहीं लजाता। रोमियों 8-29 के अनुसार वह भाईयों में पहलौठा है।

उसका प्रेम हमारे प्रति एक सच्‍चे और प्रेम से परिपूर्ण शिक्षक का प्रेम है।

यूहुन्‍ना 13:1 में बाईबिल बताती है

तो अपने लोगों से, जो जगत में थे, जैसा प्रेम वह रखता था, अन्त तक वैसा ही प्रेम रखता रहा।

उसका प्रेम हमारे प्रति एक अच्‍छे चरवाहे का प्रेम है।

यीशु ने कहा:

अच्छा चरवाहा मैं हूं; अच्छा चरवाहा भेड़ों के लिये अपना प्राण देता है।
मजदूर जो न चरवाहा है, और न भेड़ों का मालिक है, भेड़िए को आते हुए देख, भेड़ों को छोड़कर भाग जाता है, और भेड़िया उन्हें पकड़ता और तित्तर बित्तर कर देता है।
वह इसलिये भाग जाता है कि वह मजदूर है, और उस को भेड़ों की चिन्ता नहीं।
अच्छा चरवाहा मैं हूं; जिस तरह पिता मुझे जानता है, और मैं पिता को जानता हूं।
इसी तरह मैं अपी भेड़ों को जानता हूं, और मेरी भेड़ें मुझे जानती हैं, और मैं भेड़ों के लिये अपना प्राण देता हूं। – यूह 10:11-15

On December 9, 2011, Zeenews reported that every hour nearly 11 children go missing in India (See Zeenews)

It went on to highlight the following:

In 2004-05, the NHRC reported that an estimated 44,000 children go missing every year with one-fourth of them remaining untraced. The number has shown an increase of 32 per cent over a period of seven years.

“If the average number of 150 reported missing children per district (from available data) is extrapolated to all 640 districts in the country, the total number of missing children in India every year would come to the tune of 96,000,” the report said.

Each year 6,785 children disappear from Delhi with 850 remaining untraced. Out of the total untraced children from these metro cities, Delhi and Kolkata alone constitute 89 per cent.

Among 20 states and four Union Territories, Maharashtra has highest number of children reported missing with 26,211, followed by West Bengal (25,413), Delhi (13,570) and Madhya Pradesh (12,777).

There are several NGOs who are doing the best to save the children; however, neither the Government nor the NGOs can do it alone. The security of the Indian child is to a great extent also dependent on the vigilance of every Indian citizen.

2. If you see a child being abused in your house or neighborhood, do not turn a deaf ear. Call the child line and report the matter immediately to the authorities. Your one call can save a life.
3. If you see children being used as domestic slaves anywhere, call the child line or consult an NGO working among children.
4. If you see a lost and homeless child, take steps to ensure the child’s protection and return to his/her family.
5. While travelling via rail or road, make sure that there are no traffickers around. Often, the alertness of passengers has wrecked the foul plans of traffickers and saved children.

Remember what Jesus said:

Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
(Mat 18:5-6)

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Rom. 15:13)

The number one killer in the world is the sense of hopelessness. The absence of hope destroys all sense of life. Therefore, the Bible relates godlessness with hopelessness.

“having no hope and without God in the world” (Eph.2:12)

But, anyone who believes in God is filled with hope because God is truly the God of hope.

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13).

Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
(Lam 3:21-24)

God is the God of hope because hope can only be truly grounded and anchored in Him.

1. God is the God of Hope because He is the God of Eternity

Man is a space-time bound creature and therefore the future is invisible to him. When everything seems to be going right, then the contingent and finite world seems self-sufficient to us. But, when things begin to fail and our minds get confused, the future appears to be bleak, dismal, and dark. Man may turn to astrology or numerology to see into the future, but all these only increase the distress.

But, God who is the God of eternity transcends time and knows our future. Our future is in His hands. Therefore, anyone who hopes in the God of hope is not shaken by the mystery of the future. No fear, anxiety, or despondency can bring him down, because his hope is anchored in the one who has created time and all things in it.

2. God is the God of Hope because of His Great and Precious Promises

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (2Pe 1:3-4)

The Bible is the Book of Promises. Every page one turns to is filled with the unfailing promises of God. It is sad that many fail to make note of God’s promises and so are quickly frustrated by the things, people, and circumstances of the world. But, the Bible tells us that God has given us great and precious promises and His divine power is present here with us to give us everything we need for life and godliness. In other words, there is never a situation where a believer in God can say that there is no hope. His promises are “Yes” and “Amen” in Jesus, not “Nay, Nay”, for all that the child of God needs.

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. (2Co 1:19-20)

It often happens that a sense of hope can overshadow finite creatures such as we are. But, let’s remember that our God is a God of hope in any impossible situation. He holds our future and He has called us to live by His promises that He has given unto us for life and godliness.
