The Creator God is also the God of Grace who gives generously out of His infinite riches in glory. The ultimate act of His generosity was shown when He gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ as a Sacrifice for the sins of the world. It was at this point that it could be said that “of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:16-17). In Christ “the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men” (Titus 2:11). Therefore, disregarding this greatest gift of His grace amounts to the greatest insult of the Spirit of Grace (Hebrews 10:29). Jesus is God of Grace in flesh.

When the Bible talks about grace, it talks of it as a:
G-Gift
R-Relationship
A-Act
C-Calling
E-Excellence

1. GRACE IS GOD’S GIFT WITH A COST

“grace… is the gift of God” (Ephesians2:8).

A gift that costs one nothing is not anything after all. Someone defined GRACE as God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. It cost God His Son to grant us His favor. Therefore, what we do with the priceless grace of God shows how and with what attitude we have received it.

Now, someone might ask why it cost God His Son to grant us His favor. It was so because man (all humanity) is a sinner in the sight of God and doesn’t deserve the favor of God. We can’t merit it in anyway, no matter how hard we try for it – our sins stand between us and the pure and holy God. We only deserve punishment for our sins against God and against other fellow humans. Sin is deeply woven into our social, economic, and political structures where discrimination, rivalry, hatred, lust, competition, falsehood, and all kinds of wickedness rage in total rebellion against the laws of heaven. The earth is a mess because of what mankind has done with it. Yet, God is a God of Grace. His grace never fails.

“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NIV)

So, He sent His Son to this world to become the Bridge between mortality and heaven. To pay the ultimate price by which mankind can gain access to the Kingdom of God. The ultimate price was paid on the Cross of Calvary by the sacrificial death of the Son of God. He who passes over this Bridge, therefore, passes from death to life eternal. This is the greatest gift of His grace.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23-24, NIV).

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23, NIV).

It is because of the God of grace that we have seen another morning today. And, it is because of His grace that humanity will soon see the Day which will never see the night. It will be THE DAY because it will continue forever.

तू साल को अपनी भलाई का ताज पहना देता है और तेरे नक्‍शे कदम तेल के फ्रावने से टपकते है। (भजन 65:11, उर्दु बाईबिल)

दिसम्‍बर 31 को पृथ्‍वी के अपने वर्ष 2011 का अंतिम चक्र समाप्‍त करने पर संसार भर के घडियां एक के बाद एक पूरब से लेकर पश्चिम तक वर्ष 2012 के स्‍वागत के स्‍वर में जूंझ गए। चहरे खिल उठे और संसार के कोने कोने से एसएमएस और ईमेलों के बौछार रात के आकाश में फटाकों के शब्‍द और सौदर्य के संग प्रफुल्लित हो उठे। कई जुबान प्रकृति के साथ गत वर्ष के आशीषों के लिए परमेश्‍वर के प्रति धन्‍यवाद के बयान में हिलने लगी।

तौभी उस ने अपने आप को बे- गवाह न छोड़ा; किन्तु वह भलाई करता रहा, और आकाश से वर्षा और फलवन्त ऋतु देकर, तुम्हारे मन को भोजन और आनन्द से भरता रहा। (प्रेरित 14:17)

भजनकार वर्ष की आशीषों की उपमा में कहता है कि परमेश्‍वर साल को अपनी भलाई का मुकुट पहना देता है। । फिर विवरण में उल्‍लेख करता है कि परमेश्‍वर की माल गाडियां किस प्रकार मार्ग पर अपनी बहुतायत टपकाते हुए जाती है, पहाडियां हर्ष का फेंटा बांधी हुई है, चराइयां भेड़- बकरियों से भरी हुई हैं; और तराइयां अन्न से ढंपी हुई हैं, वे जयजयकार करतीं और गाती भी हैं।।

1. परमेश्‍वर वर्ष को अपनी भलाई से प्रतिष्ठित कर देता है। मुकुट या ताज सम्‍मान का सर्वोचच प्रतिचिन्‍ह है। हमारे जीवन की सबसे बडी प्रतिष्ठिा ईश्‍वर की भलाई ही है।
2. परमेश्‍वर वर्ष पर अपनी भलाई का राज्‍य स्‍थापित कर देता है। इसलिए हम जानते हैं, कि जो लोग परमेश्वर से प्रेम रखते हैं, उन के लिये सब बातें मिलकर भलाई ही को उत्पन्न करती है (रोम 8:28)। भजनकार मान लेता है कि निश्चय भलाई और करूणा जीवन भर मेरे साथ साथ बनी रहेंगी; और मैं यहोवा के धाम में सर्वदा वास करूंगा (भजन 23:6)।।
3. परमेश्‍वर वर्ष को अपनी भलाई से सुंदर बना देता है। उसकी भलाई ही से सूर्योदय होता है और उसी की भलाई से रात की चांदनी के मध्‍य तारों की टिमटिमाती द्वीप जलते रहते है। उसी की भलाई से चराईयों में घास, खेतों में अनाज, और बागों में फल-फूल होते है। चाहे वह बरसात के दिन आसमान में मेघधनुष हो या फिर पृथ्‍वी पर एक मां की ममता और दो मित्रों के मध्‍य स्‍नेह, उसकी भलाई जगत में सुन्‍दरता भरती है।

सो यह नया वर्ष हमें संदेश देता है कि हमें परमेश्‍वर की ओर से आदर, आश्‍वासन, और सौंदर्य प्राप्‍त हुआ है क्‍योंकि उसने 2012 साल को अपनी भलाई का ताज पहना दिया है। परमेश्‍वर आपको आशीष दें।

“You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.” (Psalm 65:11)

As the earth turned its final round on December 31 of the year 2011, clocks at different longitudes buzzed in consecutive succession to welcome the advent of the new 2012. Faces lighted on and sms and emails started pouring in from every corner of the world as crackers and fireworks thrilled the dark night sky with the blare and glare of a happy new year. Many a mortal lip moved with gratitude to join the chorus of nature that witnessed the goodness of God throughout the past year.

He has not left himself without a witness in doing good—giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, and filling you with food and your hearts with joy. (Acts 14:17, NRS)

The psalmist declares about the blessing of the year in the words “You crown the year with Your goodness” and continues to graphically describe the dimensions of the blessing: carts dripping from abundance on the roads, hills clothed with gladness, pastures attired with flocks, and valleys mantled with grain. The Divine Coronation of the year speaks of many things among which are the following:

1. God honors our year with His goodness. The crown is a symbol of the greatest honor. We must not forget that the best thing that happened to us in the past year and will happen to us in this new year is only the goodness of God.
2. God commands goodness to rule the year. Therefore, “we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). The psalmist is assured “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life” (Psalm 23:6).
3. God beautifies the year with His goodness. God makes our life beautiful by beautifying our years for us with the crown of His goodness. His goodness is what makes the sun to shine by day and the stars to twinkle by night. It is His goodness that adorns the pastures with grass, the fields with grain, the orchards with fruits, and the gardens with flowers. It is His goodness that paints the rainbow on a drizzling afternoon sky. It is His goodness that joins the heart of a mother to her suckling child in such tender affection that baffles verbalization; and it is His goodness that joins the heart of friend and friend in faithful brotherly or sisterly love. He beautifies the world with His goodness.

This New Year brings us the message that we are honored, we are guarded, and our lives are made beautiful because He has placed His crown over 2012. God bless you!
